Classic Game Room HD – MONSTER HUNTER TRI for Nintendo Wii review

June 23, 2010

Classic Game Room HD reviews MONSTER HUNTER TRI for Nintendo Wii from Capcom. Monster Hunter 3 Tri gameplay is solid and reminiscent of many PS2 adventure games. Played with the Nintendo Wii Classic Controller Pro you’ll get solid game play and controls when crushing monsters in Monster Hunter Tri, a massive RPG adventure style game with multiplayer. This gigantic hunter / gatherer adventure won’t be found on Playstation 3 PS3 or Xbox 360, Monster Hunter Tri is a Nintendo Wii exclusive title that will keep gamers occupied for days and weeks on end. This CGR review of Monster Hunter 3 Tri on Nintendo Wii has gameplay from Monster Hunter Tri showing Monster Hunter game play on Wii upconverted to HD.
Video Rating: 4 / 5

Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of NEW SUPER MARIO BROTHERS Wii. New Super Mario Brothers for Nintendo Wii is just that, an all new Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo Wii with up to four player (4-player) co-op gameplay, but no online multiplayer?? Seriously Nintendo? As Derek says, where’s the cream filling? You gave the awesome Super Mario Kart Wii global online multiplayer but seem to have forgotten it here. Aside from that the classic side scrolling adventure and solid platformer action continues with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The game is visually impressive and excells where it should with amazing level design, hidden “stuff” everyone and serious challenge. Fans of the old school Super Mario Bros. games should dig the New Super Mare Bros. Wii. This CGR review of New Super Mario Bros. Wii has gameplay from New Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo Wii showing New Super Mario Bros. game play in action.

dudes plz reply can u choose a guy like in arena for online play

HatmasterM June 23, 2010 at 3:25 pm

This really is a great game. As he said, you really need to get into it, and it’s by no means casual. But you’ll be fighting a monster for half an hour, finally killing it, and the whole experience is completely rewarding. The internet play works incredibly well, and the service it provides is great. Definitely a game for the Wii owner to pick up.

flamephoinxe June 23, 2010 at 3:55 pm

i like monster hunter on the beginning most
when it starts getting too much only monster smashing, then it’s just some hardcore game, not any hunter simulation thing anymore

Excellent review… this game deserved no more, you’ve said it all. Thank you man… MONSTER HUNTER FREEDOM!! <3

Terramax June 23, 2010 at 11:20 pm

I’d be interested in this game if it were released 10 years prior, but after playing Phantasy Star Online to death, and seeing as the gameplay looks very repetitive and simple, I don’t see this being a game worth investing in.

ShyGuyJet June 23, 2010 at 11:57 pm

I like Derek the same if not better actually…

chaosmaster07 June 24, 2010 at 6:49 am

If they are making a purposely retro game on the Wii, why not use the system’s potential and make the game twice as long or put in more twists?

22Videogameaddict June 24, 2010 at 6:55 am

how do you not have a hat

MrMister1227 June 24, 2010 at 7:31 am

What the heck is this bring the other guy back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

danih8112 June 24, 2010 at 8:19 am

I think the multiplayer aspect not being perfect is part of the charm. It’s great fun to go through a hard level only to be pushed to certain death by another player accidentally – these moments of rage of other players is so funny. I play it mostly with friends/sisters (all grown ups by the way :) ) and it’s fantastic.

Snotnarok June 24, 2010 at 9:14 am

@Snotnarok why do you feel the need to tell me how good this game is? I’ve seen the review, I’ve beat the game. Is nintendo paying you to insist to people that it’s a great game? What difference to you does it make if a stranger doesn’t like a game you didn’t help to create. Tell my favorite game is not great, it doesn’t make a difference to me. That’s YOUR opinion and youre entitled to it, while I’m entitled to think what I want about this game. It’s a good game, but it wasn’t well planned out

Snotnarok June 24, 2010 at 10:13 am

@sintra4 How can you convince me when you won’t even answer my question? I played through the game with my friend so I gave it a chance, while it’s good it’s also a terrible multiplayer game.
Answer my question since you believe it is perfect, why do you feel much to ask that Nintendo puts a option for how to control it? Nintendo is not a perfect company, nor is Microsoft or sony, but this is an easy option that should be.

sintra4 June 24, 2010 at 10:46 am

@Snotnarok I suppose there’s not much sense in arguing with you. No sense in assuming that I can convince you if 15 million (and counting) happy people all raving about how great this game is, and even going so far as to buy extra Wii Remotes to enjoy the extremely well done multiplayer with friends and family (note the upward spike in Wii Remote sales that happened when this game was released) can’t convince you. (Place unnecessary smiley here)

sintra4 June 24, 2010 at 10:50 am

All right “Derek”. I’ll admit that this was a pretty good review, addressed all the real problems in the game like a lack of truly new ideas and the lack of online play (though I don’t really care much for online on home consoles anyway) while also praising it for its many strong points like how well crafted it is and how fun the multiplayer is for the devious little jerk that lives inside all of us. I have one complaint though, and it’s no big deal; why all the metaphores?

Snotnarok June 24, 2010 at 10:51 am

@sintra4 No, see that’s called an opinion. :) And in my opinion and option for BOTH would satisfy more people but because Nintendo chose to force this feature in I don’t enjoy the game. If you enjoy it then that’s terrific honestly, glad you enjoy it. But understand that I don’t and putting the OPTION for motion/button control would satisfy more people. I felt that the motion control is too imprecise as it was for the metal slug collection. I like buttons, not shaking or flailing.

sintra4 June 24, 2010 at 11:47 am

@Snotnarok Also, the motion control bit was pointless nitpicking. It works almost perfectly (the almsot is just in case your batteries are going) and it’s a lot more satisfying than pressing the trigger to spin.

Snotnarok June 24, 2010 at 12:26 pm

@sintra4 Smash Brothers is fine actually, because you have the OPTION for team damage. See that’s what Nintendos BIGGEST fault is, they don’t give you OPTIONS. Team damage, motion controls, control options would have been great in a lot of their titles but they just dont’ do it for whatever reason.

sintra4 June 24, 2010 at 12:41 pm

@Snotnarok Have you ever tryed helping a friend win a race in Mario Kart while still making the top 3? Kinda hard sometimes, isn’t it? How about playing Smash Bros. on teams with team damage turned on? It can get pretty difficult to win, right? It’s because you don’t know how to work coopertively with the other person. You should try to figure out how to do that with other people. Also, no one ever said that you had to cooperate with the other players anyway.

StevenJackson00 June 24, 2010 at 1:25 pm

Sorry Derek.. I don’t like your voice or the way you talk.

DarkAvatar1313 June 24, 2010 at 1:48 pm

Please leave the classic games, classic remakes, and classic style games to Mark. Review things he usually doesn’t do, like RPG’s and simulations and such.

crazyguy1913 June 24, 2010 at 2:38 pm

I wish it would have went online

TrevRman June 24, 2010 at 3:20 pm

u complain about way too many things. I like Mark a lot better.

Snotnarok June 24, 2010 at 3:52 pm

The multiplayer doesn’t work well, it’s horrible, you bounce off your “team” and fly into a hole or into an enemy constantly, or jump off your head sending your italian ass into a pit. Precision platforming becomes “Please let my friend not kill me”.

The worst, absolute worst part about this game is the forced motion controls, it works in some other games but NOT A PLATFORMER. I don’t want to shake a controller when jumping around. At least give an OPTION to not use the shit motion controls.
