Red Steel 2 is an engrossing fun and stylistic game, One of its best features happens to be its controls which feel fluid and almost second nature as you progress through the game buying and earning new moves an finishers. You really start to feel like a Ninja like swordsman as you block, counter and dodge with ease against your enemies. Although the game is an FPS youll be mostly using your Katana during confrontations but you can and will use your guns sometimes. There is a challenge mode where you try to get a good score and grade to achieve a medal .Im looking forward to playing it again very soon.
Lets hope there will be more great games that make good use of wii motion plus.
Game 9/10
No multiplayer by the way……Aslo Keep an eye out for the hidden Sheriff Stars (appear as big spinning coins} shoot them to earn extra cash to spend on upgrades and moves.

As far as Wii titles go this is a superb addition to anyones stack of games. Its taken all the good parts from RS1 and made them better. The story is alright but the graphic and controls really work. Its easily the best FPS/ FRSlasher on system. It looks superb-easily the best graphic on the wii by far. I’ll break it down…
Story 3/5 :
Nice setting but the story kindof takes a while to get going. Good few charatures to deal with (bosses anyway) but a majority of the people you’re fighting will be the same looking fodder.
Graphics & Sounds : 5/5
SUPERB. On both accounts. Nothing better on the system – fantastic cell shading style graphic and atmospheric techno cowboy music.
Gameplay : 5/5
Great fun. Hack/Slash/Shoot its all here. Upgrade your weapons and special moves with earnt money. Enter unlock codes (pre-order ones) for special weapons. Its easy to find where you’re going in the city and the ojectives are clear. Educates you well into the control as you go through the game and pick up more moves.
Control : 4/5
Its good, very good using the Wii motion plus (ESSENTIAL!) but sometimes the the aim direction goes abit off when you’re fighting which can be frustrating. But great improvement on the original. You’ll end up sword swinging 90% of the time over the guns it far more fun.
Overall : 4/5
Nearly nearly perfect its definately a high high 4/5. Don’t judge this by RS 1 its a different title, its a different game almost entirely. Bound to appear in all the ‘top titles’ lists for the Wii and it deserves a spot.

Okay so its not the best storyline, and probably still doesn’t have the streamlined controls most wii gamers are looking for.
But it is a hell of a lot of fun, and the first time the wii comes into its own and really gives the traditional controller a punch in the face.
The wii plus should really have been built in for the wii controller, but thats another story. Here, we get some great response to your movements, while sometimes unresponsive or reading your movements wrong – it is nearly always successful in doing as you want, and can be used for some powerful combos.
The enemy’s arn’t very bright, but thats not the point. All we want to do is really fight them and kill them, and move on to the next – and of course have fun in doing so, and you certainly will.
Outside of gameplay, the graphical style is top-notch, and can be compared to some xbox and ps3 games in appearance (while the detail may not be there – it certainly looks very very good)
My one problem with the game is much of the start. The opening sequence while good, showed have been interactive, and would have been a great opening if it were.
Other than that, the first 2 hours is filled with boring and unoriginal tutorials which set you against a frightening…dummy.
The makers seem to have decided rather than an ongoing tutorial as the game goes on, they should have ones which stop everything for about 5 minutes a piece to teach you the basics, as well as a few new moves (which only become cool as you move on, at which point you choose to learn them).
But once you get past this, you charge into a wholy awesome and original game, and you’ll have a hell of a time.
A must have for wii owners.

There are a lot complainments about empty Levels and repetitive gameplay – I tell you what: I liked it. The wind blows sand through the streets, and with the sometimes melodramatic music Red Steel 2 creates a very strange atmosphere. When it comes to the sword-swinging conflicts, Red Steel 2 shows you its strengths. Theres no need for blood and splatter – its still raw enough. When you finish your enemies with the Guns, the nameless Kusagari grabs the head of his opponent and shoots him right into his face. Brutal enough?
Everybody who is buying this game should probably start on the hardest gamemode – then its a good challenge. The other two modes are to easy.
And don’t forget to use your guns. They are really helpful.

Although the missions can get a bit boring, this game is one of the best I’ve played on wii. It uses motion+ controls brilliantly and apart from some fairly repetitive missions at the start of the game (go there, kill some grunts, come back etc.) I’m having difficulty actually finding any other flaws. The missions get better further into the game and the graphics are incredible, especially for such a low-powered console as the Wii. There’s little in the way of actual plot here but it compensates for this with the sheer fun to be had gun(and sword)slinging your way across the wild west, even more so with the addition of motion plus. It is also one of those choice few games which have managed to cross the hardcore/casual boundary and it can be enjoyed by anyone.
So overall Red Steel 2 is what Wii owners across the world have been waiting for; a swordplay game which successfully utilises the wii’s full motion sensing capabilities, but this game is so much more than just that; it will pave the way for a whole host of new motion plus adventures (Zelda Wii 2 anyone?).
I know I’m hoping for a Red Steel 3.
