Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Wii)
Usually video game tie-ins are released at the same time as the movie theyre based on. Sometimes there can be short delay–but twenty years is something else. Ghostbusters never seems to age, though, with the new game a real labour of love for the developer. The game features an all new storyline but still manages to replicate most of the major scenes from the films, including the hotel-room capture of New York library ghost, Slimer, and the attack of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Review by Andrew Hewitt for Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Wii)

Despite the cartoon styling of the Wii version, the game certainly didn’t disappoint. I had hoped to play the more realistic PS3 version first, but the graphics give the Wii version a charm of its own.
The control system is well thought out, and easy to use with the Wii-mote acting as your proton blaster and viewing direction, and the nunchuck your movement. Making a throwing motion with the nunchuck deploys a trap, which was a nice touch.
From the moment the slightly grainy Columbia pictures logo appears you feel the nostalgia brimming up, and the reunited cast are exactly as you remember them. The music has been lifted directly from the movies for a truly authentic experience.
There was nothing about this game I didn’t like.

As a big fan of the original films, I was really looking forward to the release of this game on the wii – and I wasn’t disappointed! The storyline is true to the film and the original actors do the voice acting so it’s nostalgic to listen to, not to mention great entertainment! The humour is still there with Ray’s off the cuff comments at times of increasing danger and one of your first missions is to catch Slimer who has escaped yet again and has returned to his old haunt of the hotel from the first film! This time, you get to wreck the ballroom though!
Once you get the hang of the controls (you use the remote and the nunchuck to play) it’s great fun and it never becomes dull with endless searching for your next hunt. There are plenty of on screen prompts to tell you what to do in the ‘novice’ mode which is great for younger children and new gamers like me!
The graphics are brilliant and there’s very little lag between levels which I had feared on the Wii. You can play on your own or in multi-player which is loads of fun and you can also select the level of difficulty which gives the game lots of mileage. There are also bonus games to unlock.
All in all, a brilliant game. Really glad I bought it.

Pretty good fun but gets a little repetitive after a while. Sometimes controls are a bit unresponsive and there are a few glitches in the game, but overall good fun for all but the youngest of children (and adults!).

looks nice but is hard to play with numpty chucks it might just be we used to 360 controlers but i think
all this twirling of controllers is no good for this type of game.
thats just my view.
if you into ghost busters buy it!

my 10 yr old daughter and 6 year old son seem to enjoy singing along to this for hours so no complaints – a few more songs would always be nice though
