I recently received my Wii Fit and Balance Board on release date.

I am please to say that Nintendo have outdone themselves yet again and come up with an excellent peice of cutting edge technology with the Balance Board and a fun and effective peice of software with the Wii Fit excersise games.

One thing which is quite a surprise is how fast the Balance Board goes through bateries. I only owned my copy of Wii Fit for a couple of days and the Balance Board seemed to have eaten quite a considerable chunck of juice.

So I decided to have a little hunt around and see if I could find a powersaving solution to the battery problem.

Luckily enough it didn’t take long to come accross this little rechargable battery kit from Madcatz, who have always been well know for their high quality products.

The battery pack is very compact and fits nice and flush with the base of the Balance Board. In total you will usually get a good 8-10hours of play depending on which Wii Fit games you play.

Once the battery pack life is low, just simply plug the power cord into the base socket & stick the USB connector into the back of your Wii and you’ll be good to go again in a few hours.

If you own a Wii Fit Balance Board and want to save cash on batteries, this is definitely the perfect solution for you!

I was a bit sceptical of this prodcut due to the price.

It arrived in an official plastic sealed pack. The kind that you need scissors to break into. It fits perfectly into the battery slot on the Wii and has the facility to synchronise in position.

One thing i do like is that the red light on the unit goes out when the unit is fully charged which is handy.

The instruction state that the batteries will last 20 hours when fully charged but at the moment I get about 10 hours which I am more than happy with. Its easy to charge as the usb cable fits into the wii. The cable is about 1.5 meters long which is more than long enough.

Great product for the price.

Product arrived quick but with no instructions. It plugs in easily enough into the battery compartment of the Wii Fit board but best way to charge it up is using a USB port off a PC or laptop. Using the USB port off the Wii didn’t work. A little LED comes on when its charging so you know if the USB port is working or not.

Mine came with no instructions and just the battery and cable in a plastic bag. Pretty straightforward to use, plugs into any USB port at one end (either the Wii, my PS3, PC or even the port on the back of my Virgin V+ cable TV box worked) and the other end has a mini USB connector that plugs into the battery.

There’s a red LED that lights when it’s charging and (I assume) goes out when it’s charged. Charges quite quickly, usually about an hour or so and fits in the balance board snuggly with a little button that presses the sync button if you need to. I’ve read about some of these where they forgot to put that in and it makes it pretty useless!

Seems to last OK before it needs recharging – I use the board usually 4 times a week for maybe 45 mins each time and it lasts all week. That said, the set of batteries I got with the board when new lasted for two months before needing replacement.

One thing to point out to those that charge it from their Wii. It WILL charge when the Wii is “off”. You have to configure you internet connection and WiiConnect24 so that when the Wii is turned off, it goes into standby (the LED on the Wii goes yellow, instead of red). That means the USB ports on the back still get power.

This is a great product, not sure if they have increased the wire length, as there were people saying is doesn’t reach that far,

but the lead I got with my rechargable pack was 2 metres in length as a rough estimate. so you can have it plugged into the USB, and be about 1.5 metres away from the TV if you got the Wii on a low shelf on the TV cabinate.
