This bar is about double the thickness of the standard bar provided with the Wii but it does what it says on the tin. It runs on batteries so the main issue is when the batteries die out in the middle of a game. However, using good quality rechargeable batteries fully charged before each session ensures no mid-game failures. Otherwise it is a great solution for wall mounted TVs that are some distance from the console. This is a really useful accessory to give added flexibility to your gameplay.

Although I have the proper wired sensor bar that comes with the Wii, I occasionally take my wii round to friend’s houses and use it on other tvs in the house – and this wireless bar is perfect for such occasions. Whilst it is a little hungry on the batteries (I’d suggest buying a few packs of rechargeable batteries) and a bit bigger than I expected, it works perfectly with no problem at all to set up (just press the on button). Apart from the Wii itself and the controllers, this is probably one of the best accessories I have bought and would have no problem recommending it for use as a secondary sensor bar for when you are using your Wii away from the normal tv you use it on if you don’t want to have to unplug and reposition the wired sensor bar all the time.

This sensor works just as well as the official sensor that comes in the box, which is very comforting just in case i break the old one i will still be able to play wii sports with my pals. However i would strongly urge you gather some rechargeable batterys as this will eat through duracells like a hummer does to petrol.

Recommended.

writing this review using the internet channel and the sensor bar. six batteries is a bit much, but the bar is just as responsive as the wired version. if you’ve got a wall mounted tv or just want minimal cables this is essential, and it works straight out of the box.

I bought this in late Jan 09. It worked fine up until last week (July 09) – It seems to only have a pathetic 5-6 months life. I am set to complain to 4gamers. Buy it if you wish to have a short term fix – also be aware of the 6 batteries you have to use to power it – they go pretty quickly too.
